Interview With Quanstar The Rapper

April 12, 2018

If you could choose to work with some of today’s established artists or producers, to move your game to the top, with whom would you like to collaborate?

"I don't know about moving my game to the top, but I'd love to work with Oddisee. I think he's an excellent MC and extraordinary producer. I want to a song with Pharoahe Monch and Black Thought. They are my G.O.A.T.S."

What is a typical day like for you?

"Wake up at 5 or 6 am, and check my email and social media. Wake my sons and get them ready for school with my wife. I check my Spotify and Pandora dashboards to see what's new. I'm currently working on booking a Chinese tour so I'm hitting cats up over there about playing shows. At some point in the day I usually text Lex of LexZyne Productions because we have an album currently out named "Rebuilding Greenwood," and we're working a couple of other projects.
My wife picks my sons up from school, and we all talk about our day. After they finish their homework, we eat dinner, watch The Office, and do it all again the next day."

Which ingredient do you think is most essential in making your sound and style the way it is?

"My family. I want my sons to know that they could achieve their dreams without compromising their principals. Every time I pick up a pen I think about them, so I make music like I was talking to them. Sounds crazy as hell now that I'm saying it."

Most successful point in your career thus far?

"Hell, I'm an indie artist that's put out 15 albums, wrote a book, made a documentary, have a comic series, and wrote my first first feature film. in 17 years, I've played over 1000 dates internationally, and will be in China this September. I own everything, I fund everything, and I plan everything. I wake up at a high point bro. it's a blessing."
