Rap & Daddy Duties With Detroit Rapper Chasedxpe

May 13, 2018

What is a typical day like for you?

"A typical day for me is getting up for my kids. I'm in straight daddy mode. Dirty diapers and all kind of shit lol honestly I rarely really get chances to create until either their with their mother or sleeping & that's usually late af at night like 1 a.m. and shit cause I'm constantly cleaning my house showing my son how a man runs a household cause I'm always dad first before chasedxpe."

How long have you been doing what you’re doing and how did you get started in the first place?

"If I really calculated the years it would have to be 15 years I've been making music. As far as taking it seriously to the point I knew it was my calling and the gift that God gave me, I should say 3 years active out here. I got started with my brother Good$ x Brad (he produces for early Mac & Big Sean now), Wise and my brother Louie just making small recordings  in the basement or in the closet or wherever we could...we just loved making music. I should say I started writing songs my freshman year of high school secretly."

If you could choose to work with some of today’s established artists or producers, to move your game to the top, with whom would you like to collaborate?

"As far as people I wanna work with producer wise of course the young legend Metro Boomin I feel we could really create something special. Kanye West because that guy's a genius and I don't care what anyone says about him honestly. Sonny Digital & Cardo would be fucking rad also."

Which ingredient do you think is most essential in making your sound and style the way it is?

"Honestly I'm fucking werid with making music. I'm not as complex as everyone else I really go off of what I'm going through in life and how I feel at moments in time as well as in life. Shit just sounds cool over beats. I like things to happen organically and not all planned out. It's definitely a love-hate relationship but I think I'm starting to Jedi the shit out of this. I just be on some Hansel shit from Zoolander."

In what ways has social media shaped your brand or helped your music?

"Well I believe with me and how I move, social media didn't shape my brand at all ya know? I made the blueprint ya feel me? I pulled out the pot with how my brand is perceived and shaped. Social media is just providing me outlets to connect with people with the option to promote whatever it is you do or sell so that you can branch out and network with people all over the world who are into what you're into or going the same route career wise. Different strokes for different folks. "

So, what are your thoughts on the current state of the game?

"My thoughts on the way the game is going now is mostly positive. People are actually starting to notice that it's just fine being yourself and so what if your a lil weird? We are all weird in some way and no one's perfect. I feel the game is evolving faster and more creatively now and I like it. Only thing I don't f**k with is how in some certain situations, popularity overpowers talent and certain tactics are used to brainwash the youth to think certain things are cool when it's not. "
